The 2018 ECU Spring Football Poster that I designed drew inspiration from a number of sources. The Pirates' home field, Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium, is currently undergoing a $60 million expansion. Since fans attending the Spring Game Weekend would be getting their first glimpses of the progress, along with head coach Scottie Montgomery referring to this process of improving the team as a "renovation", a construction theme made sense to tell this story.
The poster and schedule card also incorporate actual blueprints from the expansion project, adding an extra touch of authenticity.
